Activision Announces Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5!

Activision has been bringing back old franchises as of late. Not only did they recently announce a new Guitar Hero, but today they also revealed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5!

Activision looks to rekindle the flame fans once had for this series. This is done by innovating on what worked before without abandoning its arcade-like feel; it isn’t going sim like its rival Skate. High scoring runs on interesting maps meld with new items like power-ups and projectiles, giving gamers new yet familiar experience.

“Skateboarding has always been about the freedom of ripping with your friends, and creating a game that captures that feeling has been a vision of mine since the Pro Skater series began over 15 years ago,” said Tony Hawk. “I’m beyond excited to see that dream finally come true with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, which takes the old-school attitude of the original games online in a big way.”

THPS5 will also feature a robust online multiplayer component. Gamers can drop in and out of online skate sessions with friends and complete missions, unlocking new content. They can also go head-to-head in competitive matches. Once players have gotten their fill of the game’s featured maps, they can build their own skateparks to share with the community.

A new development team of Robomodo and Disruptive Games will be developing THPS5 for the PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PS3 respectively. There’s no word on a release date though we’ll be sure to share that information once it’s released!
