APB Reloaded is Coming to PS4/Xbox One!

Deep Silver, Reloaded Games and The Workshop Entertainment jointly announced that APB: Reloaded is coming to the PS4 and Xbox One this Spring!

This is rather interesting news. For those that don’t remember the original APB, it was sort of like a Grand Theft Auto MMO. Gamers would join two factions – the enforcers or police that uphold the law and criminals that commits crimes – and battle it out during missions given by NPCs. Since its release it’s gone to a new developer, changed to a free-to-play model, and landed itself on Steam. Now it’s set to hit current gen consoles.

“Over the past year it has been great to work with Deep Silver and their experienced teams from the Saints Row, Homefront and Dead Island franchises,” said Bjorn Book-Larsson, CEO of Reloaded Games. “We have also benefited working with the veteran development team at The Workshop, led by members of the original Tony Hawk, Call of Duty 3, Borderlands 2: “Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage” and The Evil Within teams, and getting their deep insight into how we can best transform APB Reloaded into a great console experience.”

Like the PC version, APB: Reloaded will be free-to-play (Xbox Live Gold membership is needed if playing on the Xbox One) allowing gamers to earn items in game or purchase them outright. Not sure if it will support up to 100 players per match on the consoles though. With the extensive character and vehicle customization systems, that could be a tall order. That could be why there isn’t a concrete release date yet, though I’m sure we’ll hear about a beta of sorts soon.
