Ark: Survival Evolved Gets a Launch Date!

Studio Wildcare recently announced that their survival adventure game, Ark: Survival Evolved, will officially launch this August. Currently in final production, Ark will be leaving Early Access/Xbox Preview Program with the core experience completed.

Like most survival games, Ark tosses players onto a mysterious island with only their wits to keep them company. From there, they’ll have to find food, craft tools, build shelters and fiend off monsters. Running into other players could be a boon, if they aren’t out to kill you (cooperative and competitive severs help to keep things fair). Unique features include the ability to tame, train and ride one of 100 different dinosaurs and other prehistoric beasts.

“This is just the beginning of the next phase of our journey,” said Jeremy Stieglitz, Co-Founder and Co-Creative Director of Studio Wildcard.  “For those players who were excited with every update during Early Access, ARK’s going to become even more fun with surprise new content at launch & beyond, as we will continue to have a staggering amount of additional gameplay, creatures, and story elements in the works.”

Ark: Survival Evolved will come in three different versions when it launches on August 8th. The standard edition will come with the core experience and all free content released up to this point. The Explorer’s Edition include a Season Pass that grants access to all expansion packs. And lastly the limited Collector’s Edition (only available at GameStop and EB Games Canada) will come with a handcrafted leather-bound explorer’s notebook with dossiers on every in-game creature, an official Ark necklace, a cloth ark map, a poster of the Wildcard development team, and the official ark soundtrack. The standards, Explorer and Collector’s editions will cost gamers $59.99, $99.99, and $159.99/$219.99 CAN respectively.

The game will be available for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It will also feature cross platform play between PC’s running Windows 10 and the Xbox One. Not saying to get it on either platform over the PS4…just saying that the option to play with others on PC/console is available.
