CD Projekt RED Releases Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Walkthrough

E3 feels like forever ago when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077. Given the lack of information since its announcement way back when, anything from CD Projekt RED acts as a significant moment in time for fans of their work. Today is no different…

CD Projekt RED released the gameplay footage it showed to media at E3 and Gamescom. This 48-minute walkthrough gives a small glimpse into what fans may potentially see in Cyberpunk 2077 – I say potentially, because this isn’t the final build of the game, despite it being playable from beginning to end (more on that in a bit). Check it out below:

Adam Badowski, Cyberpunk 2077 Game Director and CD Projekt RED Head of Studio was hesitnant to release the video to the public. He said that, “since many of the assets and mechanics in the current version of Cyberpunk 2077 are most likely to be modified, we initially decided to show this gameplay only to media. Elements like gunplay (both in terms of visuals and how RPG stats influence it), netrunning, car physics, or the game’s UI — everything’s pretty much still in the playtest phase and we felt uneasy about publicly committing to any particular design.”

Makes sense. First impressions and all that. Still, what was shown is pretty promising; outside of some dark areas and missing elements, the game looks great. Now if we can just get a release date. I mean, CD Projekt RED has stated that the campaign is completable in it’s current state. They just have to iron out some bugs, add in all of the game’s mechanics, and add that final bit of polish. Surely, they’ll be able to do all of that before say…the end of next year?
