EA Access is Coming to Steam

I’m sure gamers were excited to hear that EA was partnering with Valve. Just knowing that they’ll be able to play Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – without having to install Origin – was cause for celebration. The big news though, had to do with EA Access coming to Steam.

Gamers who subscribe to EA Access on Steam will get the same things offered through Origin. That includes a ton of games, member benefits, discounts on full game purchases and more.

What’s even better is the notion of cross-play. Both EA and Valve plan on embarrassing each other’s communities by allowing Steam and Origin players to play games like Apex Legends together.

“This is the start of an exciting partnership with Valve that will see us innovating for PC players around the world,” said Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts. “Through our subscription, great games and more, we’re excited to bring players in the Steam and Origin communities together with access to the best games, whenever and wherever they want to play.”

Giving your customers options is always a plus. That said, I wonder how’d this partnership come about. Was it a move to get more people to subscribe to EA Access, a way for Valve to combat the Epic Games Store or something else? Whatever the case, it’s a lucky break for fans looking to consolidate their game libraries.
