And from what we hear, the game is pretty good!

/table-top/post/deadly-premonition:-the-board-game-is-available-for-pre-order Wed, 24 Jan 2018 12:00:00 Deadly Premonition: The Board Game Has Been Fully Funded!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
Date: 05/10/2017

Rising Star Games announced that the Kickstarter campaign for Deadly Premonition: The Board Game has reached its funding goal. What’s great was that it was only up for about eight hours before it surpassed $50,000 in potential funding!

Fans of the cult video game, Deadly Premonition, were all over the Kickstarter page on Tuesday morning. Who could blame them – board games are cool, especially the ones based on the creepy/campy events in DP. This particular board game sees players as detectives trying to figure out who the hidden killer is among them. At the same time, they have to protect the innocent citizens while weeding out the killer’s accomplice. There’s more to it than that of course…

The pledge is setting slightly above $83,000, meaning it has hit several of its stretch goals. This included bonus action cards, new weather conditions and unique artwork for paired cards. The weather bits are interesting given how bad things happen under certain circumstances; the killer will silence one of the suspects every time it rains. What great, murderous fun!

If you’d like to learn more about Deadly Premonition: The Board Game, feel free to head over to the Kickstarter page. Robot Entertainment and Stoic successfully launched Kickstarters to fund Orcs Must Die and Banner Saga board games. Now 11 bit studios is jumping into the ring (or in this case, the box) with their hit title, This War of Mine…

This War of Mine The Board Game will featured a multiplayer experience for up to six players. Each player will don the shoes of one of the characters from the game and face hundreds of challenges and difficult choices, while trapped in a war-torn city. Interesting enough, it will be an instant play game; players won’t need to read a manual before joining in. Not sure how that’s going to work as I would assume there are a lot of moving parts based on the premise. There will be an app that provide content like additional scenario triggered scripts, live story updates, and cutscenes to help flesh things out a bit.

While I’m glad This War of Mine is going the table top route, I have to wonder if it will be any “fun”. In my review of the original game, I reflect on what it was like trying to survive in TWoM’s world. Translating that into a cooperative game could be amazing if not a bit sad. That said, Michal Oracz, a veteran board game designer, has taken the reigns. Basically, we’ll have to wait and see.

/table-top/post/11-bit-studios-announced-this-war-of-mine-the-board-game Wed, 25 Nov 2015 12:00:00 This War of Mine The Board Game /table-top/post/this-war-of-mine-the-board-game Wed, 25 Nov 2015 12:00:00 WizKids Announces World's Finest Early Access!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
Date: 11/12/15

WizKids is offering stores and players a chance to get their hands on the upcoming DC Comics HeroClix: World’s Finest set weeks early. Store selection will begin in December and will be based on store WES participation, usage and sales history. So, if a store is looking to participate in the pre-release fun, they should register in WES and join existing programs as soon as possible.

Selected stores will get an allotment of World’s Finest figures to offer players during these events/tournaments. They’ll also have Limited Edition figures to add to the prize pool. Each event will be held between Jan. 27th and Feb. 7th as the set will be released to everyone on Feb. 10th 2016!

/table-top/post/wizkids-announces-worlds-finest-early-access- Thu, 12 Nov 2015 12:00:00 The Banner Saga: Warbands Kickstarter Launches/Succeeds!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
Date: 11/12/15

Stoic and MegaCon Games shared more details about The Banner Saga: Warbands as the official Kickstarter launches. Based on the critically acclaimed video game, this miniatures board game will allow gamers another avenue to experience this building franchise.

Warbands is a cooperative board game for 2-4 players that deals with the difficulties and consequences of decision making (just like the game). It’ll feature 30 plastic miniatures, a world map, player boards and several card sets – all of which look downright snazzy.

Because “quality”, it didn’t take long for Stoic to hit their $50,000 goal. So you won’t hear us urging you to pledge outside helping them meet their stretch goals (and maybe to receive exclusives like the special Warband miniature only made available via the Kickstarter). This is also where you can pre-order the forthcoming Banner Saga 2 with a 10% discount.

“The Banner Saga: Warbands miniatures will be the same high quality miniatures backers have come to expect from MegaCon Games.” commented Brian Shotton Game Designer and Founder at MegaCon Games. “The combat is diceless, purely tactical and while different from the video game, carries over the spirit of hard decision making where not everyone will survive. The ultimate goal in all this is to keep your Warband together.”

We’re excited for what Stoic, MegaCon Games and publisher Versus Evil are doing with the franchise. Like I said before, a board game is the perfect fit for this popular indie game. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long before we’re able to give Warbands a try!

/table-top/post/the-banner-saga:-warbands-kickstarter-launches-succeeds Thu, 12 Nov 2015 12:00:00 Stoic Reveals The Banner Saga Warbands!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
Date: 11/05/15

Stoic, the developers behind the critically acclaimed video game The Banner Saga, has teamed up with MegaCon Games and publisher Versus Evil to release The Banner Saga Warbands!

Not to be confused with a coming sequel, Warbands is a board game inspired by The Banner Saga. MegaCon has been designing the game for close to a year; the last couple of months they’ve finalized the minatures, boards, and cards. Now they’re gearing up for a Kickstarter campaign in order to secure funding towards manufacturing a finished product.

A Banner Saga board game really makes sense when you consider the turn based combat and RPG elements. MegaCon has worked hard to capture the spirit of the game, even adding serious consequences for your many choices during play.

The Kickstarter is set to go live on November 12th. Those looking to be notified as more information becomes available can check out the special website created for the board game as well as check back here.
