Shuographics Launches Expanses Kickstarter!
Written By: Kenneth Seward Jr.
2016 has been the year of Virtual Reality. Sure, there has been plenty to be excited about when it comes to the more traditional ways of gaming. But VR, being the proverbial “new kid on the block”, has garnered a lot of attention in its own right. So it should come to no one’s surprise that certain developers are looking to get in on the action…
One such developer is Shuographics Studio, a small team based in St. Petersburg, Russia. They’ve decided to create a game called Expanses for the Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream – basically mobile devices. What’s interesting though is that Expanses will utilize a unique form of control; our eyes. Apparently, the game’s world has been ravaged so badly that its animals are facing extinction. It’s up the player to restore the natural order of things by physically altering the environment (or expanses) using our eyes. Just…look at the trailer below to see what I mean:
Shuographics is looking to create a full fledge adventure game where we control God-like powers using only our eyes. That alone makes their Kickstarter worth checking out. As someone who isn’t completely sold on VR, Expanses sounds like it could be a rather cool experience. And the price of entry is much more reasonable than purchasing an Oculus/PSVR/HTC Vive (though, if Expanses gets enough funding, we’ll see it on those platforms as well). At the very least, it isn’t another FPS.
