SEGA Brings Classic Games to Mobile!

SEGA Networks Inc. recently announced that they were bringing a collection of classic video games to mobile devices. Now, this by itself isn’t really news – I mean, just how many SEGA bundle/collections do we need? What’s really interesting though is that this collection will spans every console era, snatching up popular titles, and place them on mobile devices…for free!

Called SEGA Forever, this collection will feature free-to-play, ad-supported games (ad free versions cost $1.99 each). The collection kicked off today with five Mega Drive/Genesis titles, including Sonic The Hedgehog, Phantasy Star II, and Comix Zone. They all have controller support, cloud saves, leaderboards and the ability to be played offline. Basically, they offer some modern trappings we’ve grown accustomed to without touching the classic gameplay.

SEGA Forever will continue to grow with additional releases coming every two weeks. Again, all will be available to download on the Google Play and App Store’s for free. And while it doesn’t beat out my personal collection of SEGA games, it’s cool fans will be able to take them on the road. You know…without worrying about losing cartridges or having to lug around an old console.
