Hunt: Showdown Gets a Release Date

Crytek recently announced the release date for Hunt: Showdown. Fans will be able to play the completed game come August, on PC and Xbox One.

This might sound odd to a few of you considering the game has been available on Steam and Xbox for some time. The thing is, it was still being worked on; it landed on Early Access and Xbox Game Preview. The final version will drop August 27th.

“Developing a game alongside such a passionate community has been so rewarding. It has taken us in new directions, and really inspired us to put everything we have into Hunt,” said Lead Hunt Producer Fatih Özbayram. “Now the time has come for the full release, and we couldn’t be more excited. We won’t forget the support this community has given us.”

Crytek also announced that the game will be coming to the PS4. Unfortunately, they don’t have a set date (it’ll release on Sony’s console sometime this fall). A retail version of Hunt will also land in stores thanks to Deep Silver.

Hunt: Showdown was always an interesting game. The battle royal, PvE, horror-based elements all blended into a fun (if not nerve wracking) experience. As development progressed, fans got new weapons and enemies, new modes, a new map, balanced-based patches, and more. And while the complete game is coming later this year, I’m sure Crytek will continue to add new features and such post launch.

Hunt: Showdown will be available on PC and Xbox One on August 27th, for $39.99. A PS4 version is coming later this fall.

Update: We originally wrote that Koch Media was handling the retail versions of Hunt: Showdown. This was somewhat correct – Koch is distributing physical copies of the game in Europe, while Deep Silver is handling the North America release. We’ve updated the article with this in mind.
