New Street Fighter V Details/Release Date Revealed!

Yoshinori Ono, Capcom producer, revealed new information about Street Fighter V during the Sony press conference at Paris Games Week. Not only did he spill the beans on a certain yoga-inspired fighter named Dhalsim, he also announced SFV’s release date…

A little while ago, Capcom explained how any addition gameplay related content released post launch would be free. Today it was revealed that there is going to be six new characters added over the course of 2016, raising the roster up from the 16 at launch to 22 by the end of the year. While these new characters are free, players will need to purchase them using in-game currency called Fight Money. Earned by doing activities (like daily goals and leveling character), once enough is collected you can then “unlock” a new character. Those who’d rather spend tangible money to get the characters sooner can do so.

On one hand it’s cool that new characters can be earned as opposed to being strictly paid DLC. Then again, I’m not a fan of paid services within a full priced game. We’ll have to wait and see how things turn out. The good news is that all of the game balancing and updates will be released to everyone at the same time regardless.

Moving on, the classic combatant Dhalsim is back and as flexible as ever. His Yoga Burner and new float abilities look great in action; he’s able to keep up with faster fighters even though he moves really slow. Check him out, and the other announced fighters below:

Street Fighter V seems to be shaping up nicely. Fighting fans will be pleased to know that it’ll release on the PS4 and PC on February 16th 2016. As always, be sure to check back here as we continue to cover this title!
