Rockstar Announces Red Dead Online

Today, Rockstar Games announced Red Dead Online – the online component to Red Dead Redemption 2. With Rockstar promising an evolution of the multiplayer experience found in the first Redemption, the newly revealed mode sounds…promising?

Fans have been eagerly awaiting this news. Not that Rockstar let on that they were building something akin to GTA Online; they mentioned that they were planning something big in that regards, but nothing 100% concrete just yet. That said, everyone expected them to take what they’ve learned about GTA V and apply it to Red Dead. What’s interesting (or promising) is the idea of a blended narrative. There will be competitive and cooperative elements that aren’t just random chaos or an iteration of Team Death Match. No, Rockstar is looking to add fun new ways to compete in the old west.

Red Dead Online is scheduled to launch sometime in November, after a public beta. This of course is after the main game launches – just like GTA V. There will be constant updates, adjustments and more as the online offerings grow. Here’s hoping Red Dead Online’s launch isn’t as rocky as GTA Online was.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will be available for the Xbox One and PS4 on October 26th.
