Techland Announces First-Person Horror Game, Dying Light!

WB Interactive Entertainment and Techland announced a new first-person, action survival horror video game today. Fans of open world games such as this should definitely take notice; it looks bloody awesome!

Something bad has happened. The world is been overrun with some sort of viral outbreak causing death and destruction…at least that’s what I got from the brief press release. Generic story premise aside, there are some interesting things presented here. During the day players will have to scavenge for supplies, craft weapons, and basically prepare for the night. At night the large population of infected (the ones that didn’t die from the outbreak) are more aggressive towards humans. Players will need to do whatever they can to survive until dawn.

“We are excited to partner with Techland on Dying Light, which is an original gaming experience for next-generation consoles,” said Kevin Kebodeaux, Senior Vice President, Sales and Operations, Americas, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “The partnership with Techland allows us to combine their successful development capabilities with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s one-of-a-kind publishing expertise to deliver on this title.”

Don’t let the next gen talk scare you. Dying Light will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, PC as well as Xbox One and PS4. Though I’m pretty sure the “better” versions will be released on the newer systems.

No word on whether or not Dying Light is a single player experience. Being a huge fan of Techland’s Dead Island games, I hope it features some type of multiplayer component. That said, it looks promising either way. I’m looking forward to see what Dying Light has in store. Unfortunately, I’ll have to wait till sometime in 2014 before I can play it.
