Telltale Reveals Two New Titles During VGX!

Telltale Games announced two new titles at VGX this past weekend. Not afraid to tackle licensed franchises, they’ve formed some interesting collaborations!

The big surprise from Telltale was their announcement of a Borderlands game. Called Tales from the Borderlands, this new title will explore the stories of existing and all new characters from the world of Pandora. Gearbox and Telltale is an interesting combination to say the least.  I wonder how the shooter will play as an adventure game.

Gearbox shares the independent spirit that Telltale was founded on, and like Telltale, they’ve broken the boundaries of what to expect within a gaming genre,” said Dan Connors, co-founder and CEO of Telltale Games. “Our partnership is something that we are very excited about, because it will unite the incredibly rich world of Borderlands with Telltale’s focus on story-telling driven by player choice, and characters that people truly care about.”

Tales from the Borderlands will be published digitally by Telltale Games in partnership with Gearbox Software sometime next year.

The second title, which was all but officially confirmed before the show, was Game of Thrones. What we have here a multi-year, multi-title partnership between Telltale and HBO Global Licensing; their aim is to bring an episodic game series based on the Game of Thrones TV that was inspired by George R.R. Martin’s novels. They didn’t go into too much detail about the game outside of its release in 2014. Fans of the books and show are sure to be excited about this one!

Both titles will be released on PC/Mac, mobile devices, and home consoles.
