TESO is Coming to Consoles This June/Loses Subscription Model!

Bethesda Softworks dropped a bomb on gamers today. Not only did they announced the release date of The Elder Scrolls Online for consoles, they’re also doing away with its subscription based model!

No…before you get up in arms, TESO isn’t going free to play. Taking a cue from games like Guild Wars, TESO – renamed The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited – will have a one-time cost. After that, gamers will be able to play as much as they want. Those of us who’ve been playing on the PC version will have their accounted updated to the Tamriel Unlimited edition as well.

There will be optional content available for purchase of course as well as a premium membership service that comes with exclusive in-game bonuses, crowns to use in the store and access to all DLC game packs. That said, all of the regular updates and new gameplay mechanics (like the Justice and Champion systems) will be offered to all players.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited will be released on Xbox One and PS4 on June 9th. The PC/Mac version will be updated on March 17th. Now, if we can figure out a way for cross platform play…
