The Switch is the Fastest Selling Console in the US!

Nintendo recently announced that their latest console, the Nintendo Switch, is the fastest selling home video game system of all time in the U.S. As of March 3rd, 2017, the system has sold more than 4.8 million units. That’s the highest total for the first 10 months of any other console…

We knew the Switch was going to outperform the Wii U (it sold 13.6 million worldwide…over the course of five years) but not that it would out sell the Wii; it held the previous record of 4 million. I’d imagine this had to do with the games – namely The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – as well as the unique portability features.

“Fans across the country have experienced the joy of playing their favorite games at home or on the go,”said Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America’s President and COO. “Now that many more people have received Nintendo Switch systems for the holidays, we look forward to bringing them fun new surprises in 2018 and beyond.”

Nintendo is promising more exclusive titles, third party support and surprises for 2018. I’m personally waiting to hear about Super Smash Bros. being ported to the Switch. You know it’s coming…
