Three New Square Enix Games Worth Hyping!

A lot of games were announced during E3. And though it isn’t possible to list them all…well, it is but we aren’t going to do that because…time…

Square Enix revealed new titles at multiple press events at E3 this year. Outside of the super unexpected (Final Fantasy VII Remake), we got a few that’s worth jumping on the hype train for. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness is one of those titles. Developed by tri-Ace, this new Star Ocean will feature a real-time battle system that’s been overhauled with improved game mechanics and seamless transitions between gameplay and cut scenes for a more immersive experience. The plot takes place between the events of Star Ocean: The Second Story and Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, making it a pre-sequel of sorts. Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness will be released in 2016 exclusively for the PS4.

World of Final Fantasy, another Sony exclusive coming in 2016, was shown off as well. Here players will lead a pair of twins through varied FF worlds while battling familiar monsters therein. The fights are made more interesting with the stacking ability. Gamers can capture monsters to fight for them. Once the fighting starts though, they’ll be able to shrink the twins so they can ride on the beasts (or vice versa) creating different combinations to take down tougher opponents.

Looking at the screens, it kind of reminds me of the Crystal Chronical games; the toy-like visuals are charming though less Chibi-like.

Agent 47 is back. In a new Hitman game (just called Hitman), players will perform contract hits on high-profile targets in exotic locations around the globe. Featuring large intricate sandbox levels, the idea is to give players complete freedom to approach and complete their hits however they like. There’s no word on if the story will follow the events from the last game or if it’s actually a reboot. We do know that it will be a digital release with more content added over time.

“This is new ground for HITMAN, coming out digital first enables us to do something new, bold and exciting,” said Hannes Seifert, Studio Head at Io-Interactive. “We are building a live, expanding and evolving world of assassination where we continuously develop the game, listening closely to the players as we release new locations, missions and hits as soon as they are ready – where $60 and not a dollar more gets you full access to the experience.”

Hitman will begin on December 8th 2015 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.  It will evolve overtime, concluding its story sometime in 2016.

There are other games that were announced this past week, including another Kingdom Hearts game (for mobile devices) and a new NieR title. We wanted to showcase some of the bigger reveals with this post though. Don’t worry, we haven’t completely disregarded the others; we’ll cover all of Square’s games in a more detailed fashion later.
