A New Obscure Title Coming This Spring!

Focus Home Interactive and Might Rocket Studio announced the resurrection of a cult classic today. They are releasing a new Obscure title over PSN, XBLA and PC. Inspired by the teen horror movie genre, this new game in the series will feature…nonstop action?

The original developer, Hydravision, created the series for the last generation of consoles. Both of these old titles were great in that they were able to feature co-op gameplay without losing its survival horror roots. Mighty Rocket Studio’s, comprised of some of the original developers, has taken things in a different direction. This Obscure will offer 2.5D side-scrolling action, four player cooperative play, RPG elements and more. Check out the teaser that was released:

As a big fan of the original games, I worry about how this new game will be perceived. Though I’m sure it will be good, will it feel like an Obscure game? The developers have promised to include elements from the past titles; survival horror elements like spare ammunition, limited supplies, oppressive atmosphere etc. They also said that gamers will be able to visit the old Leafmore High School and meet some of the previous characters from the series!
