Alex Joins SFV’s Roster!

Capcom has released the first post launch character for Street Fighter V. Alex, a fan favorite from SF3, makes his debut and he looks awesome!

Alex is a grappler akin to Zangief but with quicker movements, cross-ups and a killer overhead smash. I’m not sure what his V-skill is (or what the little dragons floating around him mean) but he looks like a force to be reckoned with.

Also launching today is the In-Game Shop for earned currency (Fight Money). Players can use this currency to buy extra game content, including new characters like Alex. The price for such content varies, with characters coming in at 100,000 FM and story mode costumes at 40,000 FM. It can take some time to earn the proper amounts; leveling up characters net 1000 FM per level. Completing the story mode for the first time with each character will get you about, 160,000. That’s enough to buy one costume and unlock Alex. Since you can’t use real money yet, Capcom is offering Alex as a free trial period to all players until the Zenny shop launches (this also applies to any future DLC character released before the shop is ready).

Speaking of not being ready, Capcom will be thinking players for their patience and understanding throughout SFV’s launch by making Ryu and Chun-Li’s Story Mode costumes free to all users*. More content will be released in the coming months. We’ll be sure to share this information as soon as we get it!

*Capcom released SFV in a…not so finished state back in February. Read our review to see what we mean.
