Ballistic’s Paranormal RPG, HellSign, is Headed to Early Access
It can be difficult for an indie game to grab our attention. Outside of the top dogs – you know, the games that are being talk about on virtually every site – it can be hard for them to stand out amongst all of the “AAA” noise. This is especially true heading into the holiday season which, as of 2018, seems to start in October. That said, when a game does grab our attention, we make sure share it with our readers…
Ballistic Interactive’s HellSign is one of those games. Featuring an interesting premise inspired by paranormal hunting shows, the game follows the exploits of a nameless hunter. They’ll travel to different locations and investigate disturbances before doing battle with some sort of monster.
What I like about HellSign’s gameplay is the investigative loop. Collecting items, examining corpses, searching derelict environments – all to figure out what creature you’re up against. From there, it’s a trip back to your van to arm yourself with the proper equipment before running back in to dispatch the enemy. It reminds me of the Witcher 3 and the preparation that went into facing a foe.
HellSign will be launching onto Steam Early Access on November 7th. It’ll offer three chapters, three bosses, and thirteen creatures to hunt (it’ll be feature complete, gameplay mechanics wise). The full game will sport a lengthy forty hour campaign, over twelve bosses, twenty-five creatures to hunt, multiple job locations and more.
