Causal Delays Battle Princess Madelyn’s PS4/Switch Release

Battle Princess Madelyn is out on Xbox One and PC, with the PS4 version following suit on December 20th. It’s release on the Nintendo Switch has been delayed however, thanks to Nintendo’s patch clearance rate.

Causal Bit Games let us know that Battle Princess Madelyn’s release (and our review embargo) had been delayed because it needed to be patched. The PS4 version got patched – which is why it’s release date was revealed – but Nintendo seems to be taking longer than expected to clear the patch. This isn’t the first time Nintendo has held up a developer; remember the issue they had with NBA Playgrounds?

The good news: the game is working as it should. While we can’t fully detail the game’s quality, we can say that it is playing well on the Switch. What’s interesting is Causal’s desire to not release the game in a less than perfect state. Regardless of how we feel about day one patches, it’s nice to see a developer refuse to release an “unfinished” title; especially when you consider some of the buggier games shipped this year. As far as we are concerned, take all the time you need. As long as the game is working as intended, we’re ok with waiting.

Battle Princess Madelyn will be releasing soon on the Switch and PS4. Stay tuned for our review as well as more gaming related news!
