EA Revealed Anthem And it Looked Great!

EA and BioWare gave the world its first look at their new IP, Anthem during Microsoft’s E3 press conference. Toted as a shared-world action RPG, Anthem looked great (it was running on the Xbox X) in all its 4K goodness.

Looks won’t save a game…at least not outright. That said, the brief look at Anthem’s gameplay seemed promising. Up to four friends can explore the world and fight giant beasts together as Freelancers. Throughout the adventure, they’ll be able to don powerful exosuits called Javelins, each able to be equipped with unique weapons and abilities.

“Our developers at BioWare have been creating something special,” said Patrick Soderlund, Executive Vice President of EA Worldwide Studios. “We’re pushing Frostbite to new heights, developing a game unlike anything EA has ever made before. We’re telling a new story, creating a social, co-operative experience, and putting it in a contiguous open world that is dynamic and will be ever-changing for years to come.”

It reminds me of Destiny (with a bit of Titanfall thrown in). I hope it doesn’t play that way though as we don’t need another Destiny with the sequel dropping this year. I’m also a bit cautious of this whole dynamic world thing – will we get what was shown in the trailer or something less than? Promises, promises…

Anthem is scheduled to be released on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC come fall 2018. We’ll be sure to keep you updated as the long march towards release commences.
