FFXIV: A Realm Reborn’s First Expansion Revealed!

Square Enix unveiled the first expansion to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn at its inaugural Fan Festival event in Las Vegas this past weekend. Called, Heavensward, the upcoming expansion will offer new adventures and challenges along with an increased level cap when released next year!

The events of Heavensward, based on the teaser trailer and images, seem to be mostly regulated to a snow covered region of Eorzea (possibly on a mountain). One can expect to see all sorts of interesting winter gear for their character to don. I wonder what lead to the ice; was it always this much snow or did some type of catastrophic event cause the endless winter, Frozen style?

That’s not to say that there aren’t areas covered in snow. There seems to be some environments that feature warmer climates being added as well.

More information on the expansion will be shared during the London and Tokyo events, scheduled for October 25th and December 20 – 21st, respectively.
