Frictional Games Announces SOMA!

Strange occurrences are disrupting the routines of the PATHOS-2 research facility. The radio is silent. Behavioral anomalies of the machines are increasingly dangerous, if not… malevolent. The facility is devolving into chaos. No weapons, and the only escape is practically unthinkable.

That was the start of the press release about SOMA, a new title from Frictional Games. Yup, I’m already unnerved and I haven’t even seen much of the game yet. Those of you who are familiar with the Amnesia series know what I’m talking about.

SOMA is a tale of scientific inquiry and survival – basically a scary story in a futuristic setting. What I love about SOMA’s reveal is how far removed it is from Frictional’s older series, yet features some of the same mechanics. It looks like they’ve gotten better when it comes to their brand of survival horror. Check out the gameplay trailer below to see what I mean.

SOMA is coming to PC and PS4 sometime in 2015. Looking forward to it!
