Gun Media Announces Friday the 13th’s Single Player Mode!

Gun Media and IllFonic recently announced that their upcoming Friday the 13th: The Game…um…game, will feature a single player mode. This is great news for those of us who were clamoring for a solo experience, even if it means waiting longer for the game’s release.

Friday the 13th: The Game is a third person horror survival game with a unique set up. Seven counselors will try their luck at not dying a horrible death by the hands of Jason Voorhees, all of which are controlled by players in real time. This new solo option will allow gamers to play as Jason or a counselor while AI bots control the other characters; it seems like it’ll be a practice mode of sorts. There will also be missions inspired by events from the films.

Gun Media went on to reveal the inclusion of Tommy Jarvis as a playable character and Packanack Lodge as a playable map. Again, these additions are great but will mean the game won’t be released this fall.

“The first thing people are going to read here is ‘delay,’ says Gun Media studio head and co-creator Wes Keltner. ‘We want everyone to be assured that coming to our decision to delay was no easy matter, but we believe that the positives far outweigh the negatives. We’ve been reading day in and day out on our social media feeds that single player and Tommy Jarvis were in such a demand that we couldn’t ignore our fans. After securing funding, we’re here to tell you that it is a reality and we’re making this game even bigger. It sucks that there’s a delay, but the wait won’t be too long and it’s going to offer more for fans in the long-run!”

Friday the 13th: The Game will be released on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC in early 2017. Hopefully, we’ll have a more concrete release date soon!

Editor’s Note: For those that don’t know, Friday the 13th: The Game was originally going to be a different game. But after a successful Kickstarter and license deal, Gun Media and IllFonic were able to start developing Friday the 13th – the game they’d really wanted to work on!
