Image & Form Reveals SteamWorld Heist!

Image & Form recently announced a new title set in the SteamWorld universe. Called SteamWorld Heist, this follow up to the awesome SteamWorld Dig may not be what gamers expected…

Taking place sometime after SteamWorld Dig, a cataclysmic event has shattered the planet. The inhabitants fled in steam-driven spaceships in hopes of finding another place to live. Of course, being that water is hard to come by, it wasn’t long before they started jacking other robots for their resources.

“Heist isn’t a sequel to SteamWorld Dig,” says CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson. “It’s set in the same world and the cowbots are still the heroes. But a lot has happened to SteamWorld since then, and we want to make a game that is radically different. Partly because we really wanted to make a turn-based strategy game, but also because it felt like a clever move. The obvious follow-up would’ve been Dig 2; we wanted to surprise instead.”

Gamers will need to recruit a team of robots to explore this broken world, scavenge it’s remains and occasionally, heist supplies from enemy ships. Sounds like fun to me!

SteamWorld Heist is scheduled for a spring 2015 launch. We’ll update you on the chosen platforms, price point, etc. as soon as we receive more information.
