Konami Reveals Relationship Between Zeroes and Pain!

Konami recently revealed some new details about their upcoming Metal Gear games. We knew that Metal Gear Solid V was made up of two games. What we didn’t know was exactly how they relate to one another.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will launch Spring 2014 as a prologue to the events leading up to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. Zeroes will utilize an advanced version of Kojima Productions’ FOX Engine featuring new game elements like open world gameplay mechanics, day and night cycles, dynamic weather conditions, and photorealistic graphics.

“The advanced capabilities of the FOX Engine are allowing me to express the story of METAL GEAR SOLID in a new way,” explained Hideo Kojima, Creator of the METAL GEAR SOLID series, and head of Kojima Productions. “There will be a significant difference in what METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN brings to the series, so we want to ease players into the new open world environment and its potential, allowing them to fully benefit from all that the new game offers. As such, METAL GEAR SOLID V: GROUND ZEROES has been designed to introduce key elements, while setting up the events of METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN.”

Ground Zeroes storyline follows Big Boss as he infiltrates a remote Cuban prison camp on a secret rescue mission. The Phantom Pain will pick up where Zeroes leaves off in a new open-world stealth action game. Both titles will be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS4 and Xbox One with Ground Zeroes costing $29.99. No word on Phantom Pain’s price but, being that it’s the second part to the MGS V package (based on what’s being shown) it should have a similar price point.
