Mario Kart Goes Mobile
Nintendo is bringing another one of their IPs to mobile. Coming next month, fans will get to race as their favorite characters in Mario Kart Tour on iOS and Android devices.
Mario Kart Tour will feature unique gameplay elements. One of which being the game’s race courses; some of them are inspired by actual locations.
“For the first time ever in a Mario Kart game, players can drive past giant Warp Pipes while drifting through a New York-inspired cityscape, all with the swipe of a finger,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Whether you’re an experienced Mario Kart pro or just getting your Mushroom Kingdom driver’s license, Mario Kart Tour is a game for everyone that brings some of Nintendo’s most beloved characters into the hands of players around the world.”
These new city courses will be available during specific time periods/during in-game events. My guess is that they’ll correspond with real world events in some way. There will also be new takes on classic courses, special character variations and more.
Mario Kart Tour will be a free-to-start game – assumedly with a shop to purchase characters, karts and so on – that’ll be available on September 25th. Players can obtain their in-game registration card by linking their Nintendo Account (which is required to play the game) today.
