Nintendo’s First 2014 Direct Video isn’t Too Shabby!

Nintendo had another Direct Video broadcast today. Revealing some interesting news about their upcoming titles, one thing was made clear – the 3DS is going to be one of the best handhelds ever!

Before we get into the 3DS stuff, let’s look at the Wii U titles. Nintendo announced today that Little Mac, from Punch-Out, would be a playable character in the new Super Smash Bros. game. Donning the look featured in the Wii Punch-Out title, Little Mac seems to be a worthy contender when the game drops later this year!

For the first time in any game, all of Bowser’s seven Koopalings are playable characters. In Mario Kart 8 gamers will be able to play as Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Roy and Wendy; awesome news for seasoned and newer Mario fans alike.

Mario Kart 8 will be available on May 30th. Unfortunately, Nintendo didn’t announce the release dates of two other games: Bayonetta 2 and the in-development title from Monolith Soft Inc. Then again, they don’t have a name for their game just yet so that’s to be expected. They did show some cool gameplay footage though. We also got to hear about NES Remix 2, which is scheduled to release on April 25th. Just like the first game, it will offer stages from classic NES games with unique twists. NES Remix 2 will also include a free bonus game called Super Luigi Bros. It contains all of the levels from the original Super Mario Bros., only now it stars Luigi and requires players to move from right to left.

When it came to the 3DS, Nintendo just kept showing title after title. Yoshi’s New Island (releasing March 14th), Mario Golf: World Tour (May 2nd), Kirby: Triple Deluxe (May 2nd), Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy (Feb. 28th), Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate (2015) and more. They even talked about a bunch of indie titles and a new Pokemon competitive puzzle game called Pokemon Battle Trozei. There is just so much content coming that, I honestly don’t know how 3DS owners are going to make it – they may never put the system down!

I’m looking forward to playing all of these games in the near future. Here’s hoping none of them get delayed.
