Skullgirls Coming to XBLA and PSN!

Fighting games are all the rage nowadays. As if there was never a slow period for fighters, it seems that video game companies are announcing new titles in the genre every other day. I think it’s awesome personally. What is even cooler is that we have 2D fighters with new technology/mechanics being placed in the forefront. That brings me to Skullgirls, a new fighter being developed by Reverge Labs. Being a fan of 2D fighters, I’ve had my eye on this title for sometime. Coming to XBLA and PSN, Skullgirls will use GroundStorm Studios’ GGPO (Good Game, Peace Out) to enhance the game’s online fighting experience. What that means is that gamers will be treated to delay-free matches online. The fact alone grants Skullgirls worthy hype as it gets closer to launch. On top of that it features the art from Alax Ahad (Scott Pligram and Lava Punch), and a soundtrack composed by Michiru Yamane (known for her work on the Castlevania series)!

I can’t wait till this game drops. Till then, I’ll have to be content with screenshots and video. Speaking of video, check out these new gameplay trailers:

With the lack of game modes, no lobby system, and long loading screens, Skullgirls really suffers. The fighting is great though.
