Square Enix Takes Home The “Special Award”?

Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn received the “Special Award” at the 2013 PlayStation Awards in Tokyo, Japan!

The PlayStation Awards is an event that recognizes hit titles released on the PlayStation platform. Hosted by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Asia, this year saw the creation of the new award given to Square’s title. The Special Award (it’s actually called that) was created to recognize outstanding titles based on the following attributes: originality, buzz-worthiness, influence and overall performance.

Sounds cool; who doesn’t want to be considered “special”? Square went on to reveal that beta testing for the PS4’s version of A Realm Reborn will start the same day as the console’s launch in Japan (February 22nd, 2014). The official service will start sometime in April. As a part of the 11th installment of Producer Letter LIVE, Naoki Yoshida will demonstrate the new PS4 system version at 4am PST on Saturday, December 14th. Some highlights will include content from the major Patch 2.1 update, set to release that Tuesday, December 17th. Basically, there is a lot going on for Final Fantasy fans in the next few months!
