Super Smash Bros. U Gets a Season Pass

The last SSBU direct was exciting. Not only did we learn about new characters – the rumored Ken, Incineroar, and Piranha Plant – we also learned about the various game modes and online features. The biggest news though, had to do with the game’s fighter pass. Nintendo will introduce five new fighters, stages, and bundles of music through the end of February 2020. All for $24.99…

I don’t know how I feel about this news just yet. I mean, I always want new characters (Rayman please) and I’m willing to pay for them. Still, it feels weird to pay for more content given this is the “ultimate” edition of a game.

The number of playable characters, DLC and all, has now risen to 80. This is a huge achievement; fans are currently losing their minds on Twitter. Even if the last five aren’t that great, there’ll be plenty of popular characters to choose from.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be available for the Nintendo Switch come December 7th. Those who pre-order the game will be “rewarded” with the Piranha Plant character for free – it’s still being developed, so don’t expect him/her on day one.
