Taito Announces Bubble Bobble 4 Friends

Taito has done the unexpected. They’ve announced that they’ve been developing a sequel to Bubble Bobble, the cult classic action platformer.

This sequel (and possible reboot) is called Bubble Bobble 4 Friends. The game will feature the same platforming mechanics of old. It’ll also bring about a graphical update, new gameplay options (now up to four players can play cooperatively) and more.

The last time we saw Bub the dragon and co. was ten years ago; remakes Bubble Bobble Plus and Neo as well as the spin-off, Rainbow Islands: towering Adventure, were all released back in 2009. It’s good to see that the series is alive and well. It’s also nice to know that the original developer is creating the latest installment.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends will be releases exclusively on the Nintendo Switch in Europe on November 19th (thanks to ININ Games), with a US release to follow in the first quarter of 2020. If you’re as excited about this game as we are, then feel free to stick around for more Bubble Bobble news.
