Telltale Announces Final Season of The Walking Dead and More at SDCC!

SDCC is underway. And by underway, I mean comic book related news is already spreading across the web – the doors actually open tomorrow. This is why it should come to no surprise that Telltale is making a few announcements…

What should be a shocker is that they’ve revealed that work has begun on the next/last season of The Walking Dead. Called The Walking Dead: The Telltale Series – The Final Season (working title), this last season will focus on Clementine sole. No more sharing the spotlight; gamers will only control her going forward.

“It’s going to be an amazing experience. Thank you all so much, from the bottom of my heart,” said Melissa Hutchison, the award-winning actress who has been the voice of ‘Clementine’ since 2012. “It’s been a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, and so much love has been behind this whole experience. Good luck, I’ll be right there with you.”

The last season is slated for 2018. Coming this August though is the next season of Batman. This new five-part series will feature the return of the Joker (before he takes up that handle) while introducing Telltale’s version of the Riddler. Similar to the previous season, players will again control both Bruce Wayne and Batman as they deal with these new enemies.

Batman: The Enemy Within will launch on August 8th with its first episode, The Enigma. Last but not least is The Wolf Among Us season 2 coming 2018. Finally, we’re getting a follow up to arguably, one of Telltale’s best…well, sort of. Apparently, this new season will start a new story arc – they’re saying that it’ll act as a standalone product, separate from season one. Does this mean past choices aren’t going to affect how the story progresses this time around? Only time will tell…

Telltale has a lot going on. They have the Guardians of the Galaxy to finish, the second season of Minecraft: Story mode has started, Batman coming next month, and two series landing sometime next year. Here’s hoping that they can continue to tell great stories in their unique kind of way.
