Ubisoft Reveals The Division’s Server/Review Schedule!

Ubisoft revealed their server and review timing for Tom Clancy’s The Division today. Via the UbiBlog, they explained how they weren’t going to activate the servers for reviewers (like us) until launch date. Meaning that there won’t be any reviews of the game before launch…

The reason they are holding off launching the servers early stims from the fact that it wouldn’t represent the final game. The blog reads: “Since it’s impossible for us to populate the servers in a way that would adequately replicate playing The Division on launch day, reviewers will start playing the game along with everyone else when it’s released on March 8 – after the servers go live officially at 00:01AM Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT)*.” Now I know what you’re thinking. How can we know if the game is any good before launch? Well…you can’t. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing though.

There are plenty of games with online portions that are well received before they can be truly tested; playing with other writers during specific times isn’t the best way to determine of how things will be at launch. It’s maddening to see a game get a 9 or 10 and the servers are complete garbage for weeks after consumers joined the fray. Basically, with no single player/offline options, I’m not mad at this decision. Those of us who wait for reviews to hit the web will just have to hold off for a bit. Difficult, I know, but it can be done!

Tom Clancy’s The Division will be released on March 8th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Be sure to check back here for our review!

*Don’t worry; a Ubi rep stated in the comments that you’ll be able to play The Division at 12:01am on March 8th in the US.
