Update:
So there you have it. Call of Duty fans are in for a treat come this November. For those that didn’t see the event, let me go over some of what you missed. First off, the exoskeletons have drastically changed the flow of multiplayer matches. Gamers will be able to boost jump, dash, slide, and slam on opponents from above while using futuristic tech. Adding to this is a revamped customization system, allowing up to nearly 350 custom weapons, a crazy amount of load outs and more cosmetic options than ever before.

“With Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare we introduced the first new lead developer to the franchise in a decade and our first three-year development cycle, with one mission: bring breakthrough innovation to the franchise, while also honoring its roots. We feel Sledgehammer Games has risen to that challenge,” said Activision Publishing, Inc.’s CEO, Eric Hirshberg. “Advanced Warfare introduces significant new mechanics to multiplayer that truly change the game, but more importantly just speaking as a gamer it’s a hell of a lot of fun.”

It sure looked fun; the way players were flying all around, it would be understandable to confuse the game with Crysis…at least until you noticed the more signature CoD elements. The Pick 10 create-a-class is back but with more options – it’s not called Pick 13 – allowing gamers to really change up their play styles. Sledgehammer took things a step further with the Virtual Firing Range, a mechanic that allows you to test out your new weapons before a match starts (without having to load a new mode or drop out of a lobby). 12 game modes will be ready at launch including new ones like Uplink and Momentum, a new take on War mode.

The last thing I want to mention is the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Day Zero Edition. Those that pre-order the game will be able to get it a day before launch. It’ll be available early on all platformers and be offered to gamers at no extra cost (this includes the digital versions). Not only that, but they’ll also get double XP for the day, two new custom weapons, and the advanced arsenal incentive. Not bad.

Of course there were more stuff worth sharing. What you need to know is that Sledgehammer is trying to bring something new. Not necessary new to shooters as a whole, but new to CoD and really that’s all that matters right now. As it stands, I’m looking forward to checking out Advance Warfare come November!
