WB and NetherRealm Announce Injustice 2!

Warner Bros. Interactive Ent and NetherRealm Studios have officially announced Injustice 2. Though the cat was already out of the bag thanks to certain images hitting the web, it’s cool to learn more about this new fighter…

Injustice 2 continues the story following the events of Injustice: Gods Among Us. Batman and his allies work towards putting society back together while some heroes or villains (no word on who just yet) seeks to restore Superman’s regime. In the midst of the chaos, a new threat will appear.

NetherRealm also shared a hint at some of the new fighting mechanics, namely the ability to level-up heroes or villains. Now I’m not sure if that means you’ll be able to level them up over the course of the game or actively during matches. That said, the announcement trailer seems to indicate that this is something done while fighting. Maybe it’s a new extreme move, giving players the upper hand after taking a beating?

“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games,”
said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios.  “We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”

When it comes to the game’s roster, only seven characters have been confirmed: Batman, Superman, Supergirl, Aquaman, Atrocitus, Gorilla Grodd, and the Flash. NetherRealm is promising the largest DC roster ever offered in a fighting game. I can’t wait to see who makes the cut. With E3 right around the corner, I’m sure we’ll here more soon!

Injustice 2 will be released in 2017 for the Xbox One and PS4.
