Zombies in the Sandbox!

It seems that Capcom has an announcement planned for every gaming event this year. Pax just started an hour or so ago and already I’m getting press releases. Their first announcement has to do with Dead Rising 2: Off the Record getting a new mode called Sandbox. Players will be able to explore the casinos, restaurants, malls and new Uranus Zone without having to worry about time limits.

This is similar to the 24hr mode that was unlocked after getting the true ending in the first Dead Rising. The difference here is that gamers will also get to compete in challenges to earn extra cash. They rang from zombie massacres to vehicle-based challenges. My guess, judging by the images, is that they are all timed (still can’t get away from that clock). What’s cool is that you don’t necessarily have to play the challenges to enjoy this mode.

Being I’ve already played multiple versions of Dead Rising 2, this might be the one reason I purchase this game. Hopefully Capcom did the smart thing and added co-op to this new mode. No word on that yet. We’ll have to wait and see!
