Anomaly: Warzone Earth Gets a Release Date!

11 Bit Studios today announced the release date for their Xbox Live title, Anomaly: Warzone Earth! What…you haven’t heard of this title? It only won the Apple Design Award when it was released in the Mac App Store. First released in 2011 for Windows and Mac OS, this title has gained more and more accolades as it moves to different platforms. Now console gamers will be able to join in on the fun!

What makes this game stand out is its reverse tower defense like gameplay. In Anomaly: Warzone Earth, gamers are tasked with investigating anomalies that have occurred around wrecked pieces of an alien spacecraft scattered around the globe. In order to do so, you have to guide your convoy of military vehicles through city streets protected by alien defensive towers. In the Xbox Live version, you’ll be able to control a commander (an on-foot soldier) that can drop power-ups to help your units along.  It’s pretty interesting to say the least.

Anomaly: Warzone Earth for Xbox Live drops April 6th for 800 MS Points (around 10 bucks). If you’re a tower defense fan and want to try a new take on the genre, this is the game for you. If you aren’t a fan of the genre, you should still check this game out. It’s definitely going to be one of the more unique titles released over XBLA. Need more convincing?
