Capcom Officially Announces Resident Evil 3 Remake

Capcom officially revealed the Resident Evil 3 remake today. Shown during Sony’s State of Play, fans got to see this highly demanded game in action…

RE3 is a remake of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Taking place between Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2, it followed the exploits of Jill Valentine as she tries to escape a zombie infested Racoon City. This remake will do the same, though with some notable changes; the story and gameplay have been updated, just like the RE2 remake that was released earlier this year.

Finding out the RE3 was real wasn’t shocking. Considering that the key art was leaked prior to today’s announcement, most fans expected Capcom to announce its existence. What they didn’t expect was to learn that Project Resistance – now called Resident Evil Resistance – was a part of the game.

For those that don’t know, Resistance is an online asymmetrical multiplayer game. Four players will don the shoes of survivors who’ve been kidnapped by Umbrella. The fifth player will control the Mastermind (a role held by key RE characters like Annette Birkin) who is running a series of experiments – that is, they are trying to kill the survivors by summoning monsters and manipulating the environment.

Resistance reminds me of the failed Fable Legends. It offers similar trappings with a nice RE spin. Hopefully, it’ll be as fun as it sounds/looks.

Resident Evil 3 looks great. And if it’s anything like RE2 remake, it’ll play just the same when it releases on Xbox One, PS4, and PC come April 3rd, 2020.
