Crytek Will Bring the Hunt to Early Access!

Crytek recently announced that their Hunt: Showdown title will be released via Early Access on Steam. The idea: to have the game evolve with the help of a passionate community…

Hunt is the perfect game for Early Access. Given how it mixes PvP and PvE elements – where multiple teams of two hunt for monsters in hostile areas – a lot of testing will be needed to find the right balance. After that comes more content, separate of the base game, in order flesh things out. Magnus Larbrant, the game’s creative director, explained that they “will be adding more gear, more monsters, more hunters, more game modes, more traits, crafting and further map variations throughout early access. We want to take the time to make Hunt the game we’ve always wanted to play.”

Crytek’s upcoming shooter sparked my interest when it was announced as Hunt: Horrors of the Gilded Age. This past E3, when the game was shown off as Hunt: Showdown, it was apparent that things had changed (for the better). Hopefully, Crytek will be able to use Early Access to properly shape this unique sounding game.

“We believe strongly that community-driven development is crucial to creating a great online multiplayer experience. An early access release will allow us to get Hunt out to players as quickly as possible, to collect feedback and to work closely with the community to continue to shape the direction of the game,” says Hunt producer Fatih Özbayram of the decision.
