Day of Reveals: Nintendo NX!

Today is the day of reveals. Nintendo is slated to reveal their next console, code named NX at 10am. Then at 11 comes Rockstar’s debut trailer for the highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2. Basically, as a gamer you should be excited…

…or at the very least intrigued. Either way, we have you covered. We’ll be posting the NX preview trailer below, after which we’ll update this article with our thoughts on what’s shown. The Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer will be posted on another page, again with our accompanying thoughts.

Update: Here is it, the Nintendo Switch (aka NX):

Update 2: Ok, let’s get this out of the way. The Nintendo Switch looks pretty cool. I love this Transformer-go-from-console-to-handheld thing. Being able to play on the go has never been this accessible; you can play with multiple people using the sides of the machine. Not only that but it appears to come with a normal controller; we don’t know if there will be motion features, just that the trailer didn’t indicate anything special. Also, the sleek design…have we ever said that about a Nintendo product?

The trailer also showed off some games. We’ve known about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for some time now, but we only heard rumors about a new Mario game (it looks gorgeous by the way). One thing I’m concerned with is third party support given how the Switch uses cartridges. That may have been addressed with what looked to be Skyrim though; it’s possible that all third party games will be available via digital downloads.

There is just so much to talk about here. So much so, that we are saving our in depth critique for later (we still got Red Dead to talk about). Still, one thing is for certain – Nintendo is trying something unique. And this time…it might actually stick!
