The Witcher 3’s DLC is Going to be Free…Period!

CD Projekt RED announced today that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be getting a decent amount of DLC after it launches in February. What makes this major news is that all of the content will be completely free!

The Free DLC program for The Witcher 3 consists of 16 different pieces of content. Coming in bundles of two, each one will offer up cosmetic changes, unique quests and more. Now I know what you’re thinking; do I have to pre-order the game and for what console? Nope, no pre-order required and it doesn’t matter what version you buy. All of the DLC will be available for free on every platform (PS4, Xbox One, and PC)!

The first two bundles have been revealed. They’ll offer special a Temerian Armor set, a beard and hairstyle set, an alternative look for Yennefer and an additional quest – Contact: Missing Miners. Information on the remaining 12 DLCs will come in the following months.

This is really cool. Though I usually don’t care about optional stuff being locked to a console or pre-order items, it’s good to know that at least one publisher isn’t doing those sort of things. Not only that, but the DLC is free – some of which I wouldn’t mind paying for. News like this just adds to the hype surrounding this huge title!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available on February 24th, 2015 for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. We’ll of course continue to cover this highly anticipated game.

Update: The game has been pushed back to May 19th.
