Fortnite is a free-to-play* third person shooter developed by Epic Games. What started as a cooperative game eventually split into two distinct, yet connected experiences.
Fortnite: Save the World is the cooperative shooter-survival game where four players are tasked with fending off zombie-like husks and defend objects with easily built fortifications. And Fortnite: Battle Royale is a battle royale game where up to 100 players fight in increasingly-smaller spaces in hopes of being the last one standing. Gamers on different consoles/platforms (Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile) can play with each other via the game’s cross play functionality.
*Fornite’s battle royal mode was always free-to-play. Save the World will become free-to-play once it’s released from Early Access (it currently costs $19.99).
