Terraria 1.2 Update Finally Coming to Consoles!

When it comes to console versions of PC titles receiving regular updates (like their PC counterparts), I know not to hold my breath. PC games will continue to get free updates and patches long after being released. Consoles, especially the Xbox 360, doesn’t always allow for that sort of thing.

Going against the grains, it seems that Re-Logic’s hit title Terraria is just a little too popular not to be updated. The PC version got the 1.2 update a while back, granting gamers new items, monsters, bosses, bug fixes – you name it. Well starting this week Xbox 360 and PS3 players will be able to enjoy some of what was included in that past update.

Console gamers can now utilize over a dozen new items and recipes, battle twenty new monsters and more. The title update also addresses performance issues from the original release. Unfortunately, we won’t get the full update until sometime in 2014. Still this is great news.

Mobile gamers aren’t being left out in the cold either. iOS and Android fans can now play alongside each other across the living room; Wifi multiplayer will support up to four players adventuring or combating one another. It also fixes some bugs as well as introduces the ability to directly drop items into the world from the inventory bar.

Being a big fan of this game, I’m really happy to see the console and mobile versions getting some love. Hopefully this’ll give newcomers even more reason to join in on the fun!
