CD Projekt RED to Release Two Witcher 3 Expansions!

CD Projekt RED announced back in November that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would be getting free DLC. Well, they revealed today that there will be extra “paid” content after all…

The Witcher 3 is getting two large expansions sometime after launch. The first one, Hearts of Stone, will take Geralt on an all-new 10hr adventure into No Man’s Land and Oxenfurt. There he’ll try to complete a contract from the mysterious Man of Glass. The second expansion, called Blood and Wine is a 20hr adventure set in the new in-game region of Toussaint, a place with a bloody secret.

“With the development of Wild Hunt coming to an end, the team has embarked upon the creation of two new really big adventures set in The Witcher universe,” says Marcin Iwiński, CD PROJEKT RED co-founder. “We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there.”

Hearts of Stone will become available in October, while Blood and Wine has a tentative sounding first quarter of 2016 launch date.  Both expansions will offer up new enemies to vanquish, loot to find, and interesting characters to interact with. No word on how much they’ll cost though. That said, CD Projekt RED is known for being a giving developer; the prices will be fair based on what gamers are getting.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch on May 19th on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Be sure to check back here as we continue to cover this title!
