Microsoft Announces Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Microsoft was full of announcements yesterday. Not only did they confirm the digital only Xbox rumors and reveal their E3 plans, they also shared the evolution of the Xbox Game Pass.

That evolution is a new bundle subscription that combines Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass. Called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, this bundle gives the perks of Gold (online play, Games with Gold, etc.) and the Game Pass’ library of games for $14.99 a month. That’s a savings of $5 a month; buying each one separately will run gamers about $20 a month.

Fans looking to trade in their current subscription for Ultimate, will be able to apply the value of their subscription to this new service when it launches later this year; Microsoft is rolling it out to a limited number of Xbox Insider community members first. Those of us looking to keep their subscriptions – you’re only looking to play online, forgoing the pass – can do so. Ultimate won’t replace what’s currently being offered.
